Last night, I finally figured out how to get into this blog thing. The posting page came up, and I had a complete brain freeze. Is that weird or just a senior moment. I wanted to write about my adventures in baby sitting my grand daughters. I think I was just so tired from the babysitting part that I couldn't do the writing part.
Yesterday was one of those days. But, then with two little girls under the age of two, every day is one of those days. My daughter #2 dropped off 11 month old Matisyn at 7:45. I was actually dressed and ready. Since dear Son, age 16, had to leave for a basketball game at 5:30 a.m., There was actually hot water available at 7:00 a.m......It looked like it was going to be a good day. Matisyn was fed, dressed and ready for the day by the time daughter #3 dropped off 19 month old Kylee. Kylee hadn't been feeling very well for a few days. Dear daughter informed me the doctors office would be calling to let me know when they could see her.
Have I mentioned that a schedule, helps thing go a little smoother when your taking care of small children. I have kind of, sort of, put the girls on a schedule. You see Matisyn won't sleep unless I'm laying by her. Kylee will go right to sleep when you lay her down, if she's tired enough. If you miss Matisyn's sleep window, she's so hyper she won't go to sleep without a fight.
I try to get both of them down about 11:30, right after Matisyns mom nurses her, during her lunch break. Matisyn has two breastfeeding on her schedule. One at 11:30 and one at 2:00.
Naps have to fit in there somewhere. Kylee's mom takes a break at 11:00 and has lunch at 1:30.
Occasionally I have to run errands, something I try to advoid most days.
Yesterday, I had errands. Sometimes you just have to get out. Kylee didn't seem all that sick. A runny nose maybe. First errand, pick up dear son's girlfriends flowers at the flower shop and deliver them with the giant frog to the high school. I decided with a sick child, I'd better recruit some help. I went across the street and pulled dear husband away from work. It's handy having him close sometimes. Of course the flower shop was closed until 9:00 and it was 8:00. There should be a law that florists must open at 5:00 a.m. on Valentines day. I mean (and I'm only exaggerating a little here) there were husbands milling around everywhere. So okay, I'll come back at 9:00. I let grandpa off at work, saying I would be back soon, and not to dissappear. I figured I'd better check to see if the Dr. had called, after unloading the girls and taking off coats and hats etc. etc. I found three calls from dear daughter and one from dear son.
Dear Son wanted to see if I had delivered the Valentine yet. It had to be done following specific instructions. After reassuring him that I had it handled, I called dear daughter. The Doctor could see Kylee at 11:30. Nap time?????
I changed two diapers. Put the coats, hats etc. etc. back on, and loaded the girls back in the car.
The giant frog was still in the car. After picking up dear husband again, we headed back to the florist shop. After pushing my way through all the men who had forgotten it was Valentines day.
I finally made it back to the car. Dear husband had moved to the drivers seat. Why do men think their wives are incapable of driving, even two blocks???? Sooo, two babies, one stuffed frog, one husband, a bouquet and a baloon, we made it to the high school. I managed to sneak the Valentine into the school office without being seen (according to instructions) and left the delivery for dears sons, special valentine. The babies were not happy about losing the 4 ft. frog.
I needed to return a book to the library, and pick up a new one. I read J.A. Janice's new book, and found out it was the third in a series. So okay I'm reading them backwards. I had to take back #2 and pick up #1. Its also a good place to spend with the girls. They love stories and the childrens section in our library has lots of stuffed animals, puppets, and small chairs and tables.
Its a great place to spend a half hour. Its now 9:45, the library doesn't open until 10:00. I wasn't about to do the unloading thing again, so we drove around for a few minutes. I got a diet coke and picked up some M&M's for the girls, (their favorite bribe). We arrived back at the library at 9:55. By the time I got the girls out of the car the librarian was opening the door.
We played in the childrens section for a few minutes, the girls picked out a sesame street book.
I exchanged my bo0k. We were back in the car by 10:30. One of the girls was "poohey", so we headed home.
To make a long story short, and because dear sons basketball game is going to be on the radio in a few minutes. I unloaded and changed diapers and fed snacks and reloaded and made it to the Dr.s....Kylee has RSV. This is not good. Were waiting for Matisyn to get sick too. Thank goodness I picked up those M&M's yesterday. Getting a 19 month old to sit still for breathing treatments takes a good bribe.
Dear son's girlfriend loved her Valentine.
