DD#2 thinks I went a little too far with my poop blog. Its all tongue in cheek DD. Yes we do discuss how cute they are. DGD's looked especially cute today in their new Easter dresses. Easter has always been special to me. My mom and dad always made a big deal out of it. New Clothes for everyone. My Easter ensemble always included the dress (always very fancy), the gloves, the hat, and new socks and shoes. There was always a huge easter basket. Usually purchased at the store, with lots of good stuff. Mom always liked peeps, and the big candy eggs with the marshmallow filling. I never understood peeps??? My dear SIL likes them. I think its going a bit too far when you can buy them for valentines and Christmas. I mean "peeps" are supposed to be shaped like chicks, not hearts and santas!!! It's was bad enough when the nasty things came out once a year. I also didn't like the marshmallow filled eggs. Usually I bit into one, just to check if the middle had improved and then threw it back in the basket where it would stick to the Easter grass. The Easter grass is a whole topic on its own. After plugging my vacuum up with it a few times, when my kids were little, and still finding stray pieces of it floating around on the fourth of July, I started looking for alternatives. (I also banned those silver ice cicles from my Christmas tree for the same reason). Just because something is traditional doesn't mean you can't change it.
I used to buy my girls white gloves for Easter. They never made it through church. It was the same with the hats. They wouldn't leave them on, they got lost. Usually they ended up in the toybox and only came out for dress-up. With the money I saved by not buying the gloves and hats I could actually afford to buy me a new Easter dress. Oh I forgot the little matching purses.
Not buying those got me a new pair of shoes. To be fair to my mother, I was an only girl. Having three girls to buy dresses for, may have distorted my veiw of the whole Easter ensemble tradition.
Well, were going up to the city Park for an Easter Picnic. I'll take my camera. I missed getting pictures of them in their dresses. I feel kind of stressed about that. I always take pictures of the kids in their Easter finery. Its a tradition. They have to be posed with their Easter baskets.
Their ARE some traditions that shouldn't be messed with. Like Jelly beans.
