Fibromyalgia

I have Fibromyalgia. It was diagnosed years ago. I personally thought the Dr. was making up a disease. Some Dr.s think that Fibromyalgia is just another word for hypochondriac. . There's a lot of disagreement about whether it exists or not. There isn't a blood test for it, or an x-ray.
I've Had MRI's, blood tests, CAT scans, a spinal tap and more blood tests. I've been to internists, MD's, Rheumatoligists, Neurologists and pshchiatrists. Several years ago one of the more on top of it Internists did find a parathyroid tumor. A person has four parathroids, they help us absorb the right amount of minerals into our bones. The most important of which is calcium. When one of the parathroids quit working they all do. Instead of absorbing calcium, my body was flushing it as fast as it could. I was having shin splints and charlie horses, fatigue etc. etc. Walking any distance became really hard. I was actually really happy when they found the tumor. The Dr. said all they had to do is take it out and my body should return to normal. It was wonderful. Except for the fact that Fibromyalgia is a very real illness and though I did feel a lot better, nothing was going to take away the tenderness in my lower back, shoulders, and knees, or the flu like symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia.

Why do I bring this up today. Because the spring is really hard on me. The weather keeps changing. One day its warm and the next cold and windy, like today. I have good days and bad.
Wind just seems to really get to me. Some Dr.s think that Fibromyalgia may be related to allergies in some way. Could the wind being blowing around something??? I think it has something to do with the barometer falling. My skin even hurts. I deal with it most of the time. I don't know if it's getting worse as I get older or even I'm just loosing patience with it. I've seen new advertising for drugs to treat Fibromyalgia. So far I haven't talked to my Dr. about them. I allready take pain relievers and something to help me sleep. Not sleeping well is a symptom. People with fibromyalgia wake up a lot during the night to shift positions because of the tenderness in our hips etc...I have a fiber bed on top of my select comfort mattress to pad my hips and shoulders.

Anyway, enough whining. There are a lot of people out there sicker than me. All I need is some ibuprofen and a good night sleep. I just need to get off my well padded rear end and do something.........maybe tomorrow.
