Kindermusik !!!

On Tuesday Morning we go to "Kindermusik". The girls attend a class with 5 or 6 other children ages 18 mos. to 3 years. Its about 45 minutes long. Usually I take them by myself. Their moms have been arranging their schedule so they can take them whenever possible. This week was one of those weeks. All I had to be in charge of was the camera. This is Mati and her Mom enjoying some time on the Story Blanket.

The class isn't just about learning songs. Its about movement, listening to and recognizing new sounds, and learning to follow simple instructions. We have a CD of all the music at home. They actually get out their dolls and pretend to be doing "Kindermusik" at home. I've noticed that Mati will now comfort herself by "singing" herself to sleep.
Here Kylee helps Miss Jill put away some instruments. They work with shakers, Bells, sticks......we've even played music on sponges.
The class can be a real workout for the moms too. I've learned some fun new things to do with the girls at home. They don't always want to do everything, but everyweek their attention spans get a little better.

"Kindermusik" is about Bonding with your Baby, and exploring all the ways there are to move or use an instrument. Every class has a moment for just rocking your toddler. The girls really respond to lullabye time. We can rock standing or sitting. Sometimes when I have both girls, I'll have one on each knee with their heads on each shoulder, or I lay them on the floor and rock their knees back and forth.

I really look forward to "Tuesdays" , the kids get a really good work out. We can usually go home, have a snack and go right down for naps.

This is Mati and her mom exploring with the "sticks". Mom's learn how diferent movement affects different areas of the brain, and development.

Mati likes to do things herself.

This is Kylee listening to a new story. They each got a copy of "Cookies and Milk" to take home and they have corresponding music on their home CD's.

You can find out about "Kindermusik" on the internet. If you can't find one in your area to attend, start one at home. All the materials are available to create your own home business.
